The news we read every day is gloomy. AIDS. War. Race riots. Famine. Few things off us comfort.

I do not wish to reiterate the negative aspects of existence within my beadworks. I turn to them for comfort, not only in the actual process of creating, but in the final products themselves.

Since childhood I have found gardens to be places of tranquility. They are green and lush. I can sit within their interiors and release my mind of its daily burdens. I try to achieve this same peaceful aura in my beadworks.

Although there are multiple layers of activity within one piece, they exist and interweave harmoniously. The light flickering off the beads enhances the mystical nature of the pieces.

I use the garden imagery as the base for creating an alternative world. A world that is preferable to contemporary Western life. These beadworks are my visions of paradise.
